Karl Marx and Communism

Karl Marx communism was that government owned everything, factories to property. Everyone got paid the same wage no matter what they did. Marx wanted everyone to practice communism because he thought capitalism was unfair and everyone deserved a revolution against it. Marx saw workers as good guys and owners as bad. The workers worked and were paid little to nothing while the owners did nothing and were paid large amounts.

Karl Marx and the Industrial Revolution

Karl Marx was one of the first people to promote a union where all workers come together. He thought the workers should control the factories and also the government. He thought that the industrial revolution was a chance to make people work for enough money to keep them alive. While the bosses on the other hand had extreme wealth, and lived well. So basically he thought the workers should control everything and their wages should be based on what their doing and their performance. he also thought the value of the product depended on what the workers did to make it.

Film Lesson: "Modern Times"

Charlie Chaplin didn’t favor the industrial revolution. He compared factory workers to sheep, flooding into the workplace. Because they worked so often, it became natural. He thought the things done at the factory were so repetitive, that also became habit. He saw the boss as someone who has too much time on his hand. He displayed him putting puzzle pieces together as the workers were doing a lot. He showed how in demand the products were, so much that people were trying to figure out ways the workers can eat and work at the same time.
